Terms
The rules for applying, looking after the headband, recording and getting paid. Short, and in plain words.

About these terms
These terms cover this website, applying, your portal, the headband we lend you and how you are paid for recording. By applying you accept them. How we handle your personal data is in the privacy notice.
Who can apply
- You are 18 or older and live in Kenya.
- You have a phone with a 0.5× ultrawide camera to record with.
- One application per person: each phone number and email can belong to one person only.
- What you tell us is true. A false name, ID or M-PESA name can end your application or your access.
Being accepted
We read every application, but sending one does not guarantee you will be accepted, nor any amount of work afterwards. Once accepted you go through the steps in your portal: phone check, training and quiz, recording-app account, headband pickup and a one-hour trial. You start recording once your trial passes the quality check.
The headband
- The headband is lent to you and stays ours. You collect it in person with your original ID.
- Look after it, and tell us straight away if it breaks or goes missing, so a part can be replaced.
- Give it back when you stop recording, or if we ask for it, for example after a long time without recording.
Recording rules
- Follow the training: both hands, the task objects and the work surface in view; short takes; upload on Wi-Fi until the app shows 0 pending.
- Make sure the people you live with know you are recording, and never record children, other people's faces, ID or bank cards, or screens with someone's personal information.
- Only real recordings of you doing the task. Re-uploading, copying or faking recordings ends your access and is not paid.
- Never do a task in a way that could hurt you or someone else.
Pay
- You are paid for the hours of recording that are uploaded and pass the quality check, at the rate shown in your portal: currently KES 175 an hour.
- Pay is sent weekly by M-PESA to the number and registered name you gave us. Your portal shows every hour and every payout.
- If you change your M-PESA number, your next payout may wait for a quick check, so money never goes to the wrong person.
- If we pay too much or too little by mistake, we correct it in a later payout and show you why.
Your portal
You sign in with a code sent to your email or phone. The codes are for you alone: never share them, and nobody from Egocentric Jobs will ask you for one.
Stopping
You can stop at any time: tell us, and return the headband. We may pause or end your access if these terms are broken, if we suspect fraud, or if the work ends. Hours you recorded properly before then are still paid.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes and we tell you in your portal when a change matters to you. Nothing here takes away your rights under Kenyan law, and these terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
