The work

What is the job?

You wear your phone on a light headband and do everyday tasks with your hands: folding clothes, kitchen work, tidying, simple tool tasks. The phone records what you see. These first-person recordings teach robots how human hands do real work, for Verlet Robotics.

Do I need experience?

No. The training in your portal shows you everything, and you record a practice hour before you start.

Where do I work?

Mostly at home, at a table or in the rooms you told us about. You need good light and a little space.

Can I choose my tasks?

Tasks are set for each day. You follow the day's list rather than picking your own.

Is there a minimum?

There is no fixed shift: record when it suits you, around school, work or business. To keep your place active, record a few hours every week.

Pay

How much will I earn?

KES 175 for every hour you record, paid weekly. It is extra income on the side: an hour in the evening is KES 175, and a 3-hour weekend morning is KES 525.

When and how am I paid?

Every week, straight to your M-PESA. You can see your hours and payments in the portal under Earnings.

Can I be paid on a different M-PESA number?

Yes. Give us the M-PESA number and the name it is registered to when you apply, or change it on your Profile page. For your safety, changing it needs a code and we text the old number.

Why were some of my hours not paid?

Recordings are checked by a quality team. Rushed, dark, or out-of-frame recordings cannot be used. Any hours still uploading or under review are paid in a later week.

Phones

Which phones work?

Your phone needs an ultrawide camera, the "0.5x" zoom in your camera app. Most iPhones from the iPhone 11 do, but not the iPhone SE, 16e or Air. Many Android phones do too; for Android, our 1-minute checker app gives the final answer. Both are on our Phone check page.

My Android phone says "Device not supported". What now?

Some Android phones are wrongly rejected. Run our phone checker app: if it shows green, tell us in your portal and we will sort it out.

How much storage do I need?

Recordings upload over Wi-Fi and can then be cleared, but keep at least 10 GB free while you work.

Headband

How do I get the headband?

After your training, book a day in your portal and collect it at our pickup point in Nairobi CBD. You will see the exact place when you book. Bring your original national ID or passport.

Do I pay for the headband?

No. It is lent to you while you record with us.

A part broke. What do I do?

Tell us which part from the portal's Help page. We print and send a replacement. Please do not glue or tape it.

Recording

How long is each recording?

Each episode should be under 5 minutes. Never longer.

What makes a good recording?

Move smoothly and slowly, keep both hands in view, use bright even light, keep the camera steady, and follow the task steps.

How do uploads work?

Uploads happen over Wi-Fi in the app. Keep it open until it shows 0 pending.

Privacy

What do you do with my details?

We use them to review your application, onboard you, and pay you. Your name and email are shared with Verlet Robotics to create your app account. Read our privacy notice for the full details.

How do I stop texts?

Reply STOP to any of our texts. Reply START to turn them back on.
